Linda Ramirez, Independent Living Director

From the moment Linda first walked into a senior living community, she understood that caring for seniors is about more than caring for their needs; it is about safeguarding their dignity and cherishing their stories. She’s done just that during her 21 years in senior living, which has included working in dining, sales, activities, and as a concierge.

Now as Independent Living Director at Modena Green Oaks, Linda says she loves “being able to help others, as well as put a smile on someone’s face and have a personal connection with them. It feel good at the end of the day knowing I was able to enrich the lives of those whom we serve, with compassion and respect.”

Linda’s desire to serve older adults began early while caring for her grandfather for three years and connecting with his heart and soul, as well as listening and understanding. Her experiences are why she says the value of compassion resonates so strongly with her. “Understanding the difficulties and challenges someone else faces, and being compassionate, showing kindness, support, and understanding, calls for compassion,” says Linda.

When she’s outside of the office, Linda likes to practice playing the drums, take long walks with canine pal, Rookie, and also pursue her creative side by painting or creating crafts. Her true passion? The Chicago Cubs. “I’m a huge fan,” says Linda. “I always go to the Cubs Convention for my birthday, attend a few spring training games, and I never miss Opening Day.” Chips and salsa are her guilty pleasures.

Perfect vacation? Linda’s a fan of traveling to new destinations—her ideal would be a hot and sandy beach.
